My patio door will not open.

I Can not lock my patio door.

Two things can be wrong here: a broken locking mechanism or an alignment problem. You’ll need to do an easy test; please try to lock the door while it is still open rather than closed. If it still locks,  it looks like the alignment is the problem; if not, it will need a new locking mechanism,  as in the paragraph above.

If the door locks open and is out of alignment, we can consider putting the back square again. That can mean a variety of circumstances, including hinge adjustment, repacking the panel and toe and healing, or a mix of both. I do not recommend trying this yourself; it will lead to a bigger issue.

What sort of cost will this be

I would need more information to give a quote. Pictures or a short video on WhatsApp are handy. But if it’s a whole mechanism, you could look at £160-210 when writing this. If it’s a realignment issue, it’s probably half that price.
